Job summary

We are seeking an experienced paediatric ENT surgeon to support our hospital, specialising in complex paediatric and neonatal airways management as well as managing a significant elective and outpatient ENT portfolio.

This role will work directly alongside it's counterparts at Charing Cross, and will be the first substantive role of it's kind at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the efficient organisation and effective management of paediatric ENT patients. They will join four senior paediatric ENT colleagues.

We also have a very busy paediatric department, which generates a high volume of paediatric tertiary level referrals including complex patients requiring Paediatric ENT services. We are supported by highly trained paediatric anaesthetic, intensive care and speech and language teams.

Post holder will work closely with other teams on multidisciplinary management of children with airway disease, head and neck conditions and complex health disorders involving ENT.

This post is a new post and will complement the existing skills of the department with the flexibility to respond to current and future service needs. It is anticipated that the post holder will develop the paediatric ENT service as well as other subspecialist interests in line with the needs of the department.

Main duties of the job

Key Result Areas, Main Duties and Responsibilities- To be responsible for ensuring patients experience an efficient patient pathway in keeping with national Key Performance Indicators except where the patient's condition prohibits this.- Supporting the governance programme in the Paediatric Emergency Department- Trainee supervision, including WBPAs- The organisation and supervision of minor procedures in the Emergency Department- To train in and deliver Procedural Sedation- To effectively communicate decisions on continuing care to the Patient's GP- To engage in innovation and service development- To attend departmental, governance and other inter-specialty meetings
