Job summary
The appointment is for a full-time Consultant Physician in Cardiology with an interest in Coronary Intervention. Applications are invited from Full time, Part time and Job Share applicants. If a person is appointed as a part-time or job share position modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the trust in consultation with consultant colleagues. The post holder will work with the existing Consultants to develop services in Cardiology and arises from increasing demand for services. This post is designed to support cardiology services, particularly heart failure and imaging and as such a specialist interest in these areas is preferred. An interest in devices can also be accommodated. This is an exciting time for the service with a new diagnostic centre planned for the West Middlesex Site, with cardiac MRI as part of this new centre and an increasing innovation and research programme. Newly appointed consultants have access to mentoring support.This role carries a Cat B Medium frequency (2%) on call requirement

Cardiology services fall within the recently formed Medical Division. The Cardiology department is part of the outpatients area which comprises of all medical and surgical outpatient areas in addition to diagnostic and imaging services. The inpatient ward (Syon 1 on West Midd site , AAU on the Chelsea site) provides care for all cardiology patients including those who require non-invasive ventilation and step down patients from ITU/HDU. Our catheter lab opened in 2016 and currently performs a range of coronary procedures including shock wave, IFR/ FFR/ IVUS and brady pacing. We undertake around 1500 procedures per annum.
The cardiology service is involved in local and regional projects designed to modernise and improve outpatient services, some of which have received national recognition. At present the main focus of the directorate is to redesign services around the needs of the patient along Ambulatory care and digital pathways.
