An opportunity to join West Middlesex University Hospital Trauma Orthopaedic department for a Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interest in Lower Limb Surgery. Appointment will be for 2 10 PA Consultants.
Main duties of the job
The Trauma and Orthopaedic department is very busy with a large and intensive elective and trauma workload across a wide range of procedures. There are daily general trauma lists, and subspecialist Elective operating lists including the disciplines of: knee surgery (including complex soft tissue
Traumatic multi-ligament injury reconstruction, arthroscopy, primary and revision
arthroplasty); hip surgery (primary and revision arthroplasty); paediatric surgery; shoulder and elbow
(arthroscopic sports injury surgery, anatomic and reverse geometry arthroplasty); foot and ankle
(sports injuries, trauma reconstruction, arthroscopic and open elective surgery, ankle arthroplasty);
In addition, there are daily, busy fracture clinics per week, paediatric trauma clinics on the CWH site and
Daily hand trauma clinics on the CWH site. The department has developed an extremely professional and business focused approach to the delivery of the very highest quality patient focused care.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to work with the existing consultants and staff to ensure high quality comprehensive specialist orthopaedic care and lead a team to ensure effective treatment for patients in outpatient and inpatient setting. Dedicated regular theatre sessions will be part of the agreed job plan including rotation at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
The post holder will be expected to actively participate in regular departmental meetings, such as to Business meeting, Mortality and Morbidity, daily trauma meeting.

- Mr Arjuna Imbuldeniya Consultant Complex/Revision/Young adult Hip surgery
- Mr Oliver Chan Consultant Orthopaedics, Foot & Ankle Surgery
- Mr Hamed Zadeh Consultant Orthopaedics, Upper Limb & Paediatric Orthopaedics
- Mr Quen Tang Consultant Orthopaedics, Upper Limb
- Mr Gamal Morgan - associate specialist
- 8 Senior Middle Grade doctors including 3 Specialty Registrars (North West London Training Scheme)
- 9 Junior Clinical Fellows including 2 Core Trainees (London Deanery Basic Surgical Training Programme)
There is a trauma co-ordinator and trauma nurse practitioner on each site. Each consultant reports
professionally and managerially to the Divisional Management team, via their Clinical Service Lead and
General Manager. You will be expected to agree annual objectives with your Clinical Service Lead and
General Manager to fit with the needs of the service, division and trust.
Provide a comprehensive lower limb hip and knee primary arthroplasty outpatient and theatre service, as well as management complex trauma of the lower limb outside the remit of a general trauma surgeon.
The appointee will take an active role in the MDT and be responsible for ensuring that peer review standards are attained within the department.

- Full GMC Registration
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register OR eligible within 6 months of the date of the Advisory Appointments Committee via CCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview, CESR or European Community Rights E Hip surgery Fellowship
- FRCS(Orth) or appropriate specialist qualification
- Good understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the General Medical Council.
