Job summary
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, Consultant Obstetrician with an interest in Fetomaternal Medicine and Labour Ward Lead to a new consultant post. The successful candidate will join a large consultant team providing general and specialised obstetrics and gynaecology services to the population of North West London and neighbouring areas. The post will be based at the Chelsea & Westminster site.
The remit of the post holder is to provide a high-quality obstetric service to our population, to contribute to the management of high-risk obstetric patients.
The appointment will be 10 PAs and will include being non-resident on call.
Chelsea and Westminster is the designated centre for specialist neonatal and paediatric surgery in North West London. The team consists of 4 consultants and has recently been joined by our new subspecialist trained in Fetal medicine. The service offers a one-stop shop for comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment to plan care for those babies that require surgery following delivery and combines fetal medicine, neonatology, surgery to provide a truly integrated service.

Main duties of the job
- Provide a high-quality fetomaternal medicine service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post. It would be expected that the consultant offers continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team.
- Be an integral part of the high-risk pregnancy service and the wider obstetrics and gynaecology service within the Trust with responsibility for the outpatient and inpatient care of high risk patients, providing a regular commitment to labour ward and antenatal clinics.
- Work alongside their colleagues within the high risk pregnancy service to provide cross cover for planned absences.
- Demonstrate an active interest in the management of high-risk obstetric patients antenatally, intrapartum and postpartum and to provide a unified multidisciplinary approach to the care of pregnant women.
- Enhance the educational opportunities available to our trainees by any reorganisation and development of services that they initiate. Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.

1.1 Contribute to the high-risk pregnancy, focussing on the fetal medicine clinics. The postholder will be expected to work across both of our site and support the fetal medicine service.
Experince of tertiary level antenatal maternal medicine clinics (general, diabetes) and experience of tertiary level cardiac antenatal services with experience of maternal echocardiography
1.2 Contribute to the Ambulatory Obstetric Service.
1.3 Labour ward Consultant cover 1:4 weeks.
1.4 Elective Caesarean section lists 1:4 weeks
1.5 Obstetric in-patient ward rounds (antenatal and postnatal).
1.6 Obstetric on call commitments as part of the departmental on call rota.
1.7 Contribute to clinical risk and governance.
1.8 Work with the MDT team to develop and complete quality improvement proejcts associated with the maternity incentive scheme and the recommendations of Ockenden.
1.9 Evidence of active research and willingness to develop further
