Job summary
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic team player to join our friendly department ASAP as junior clinical fellow. The post is ideally suited to candidates finishing their FY2 year (or equivalent) who want to gain further experience of the speciality while applying for an O&G training, or for candidates pursuing wider FY3/FY4 experience before deciding on a specialty. Previous holders of this post have attained great success after completing the posting.

Main duties of the job
We practice Obstetrics and Gynaecology to a high standard and take pride in evolving our services to keep abreast of new developments and enhance the quality of care we provide. Our local population is diverse and often challenging; including a significant proportion of patients newly arrived from overseas. We are a popular training hospital for both undergraduate students from the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College, London and postgraduate trainees in general practice and our own discipline. Education plays an important role in our day-to-day practice and is often multidisciplinary in nature.

Chelsea and Westminster is the designated centre for specialist neonatal and paediatric surgery in North West London. We offer a one stop service for comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment to plan care for those babies that require surgery following delivery. This service is a dedicated, combined fetal medicine, neonatal, surgical and urological clinic.
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is committed to providing high quality care for all patients and is a specialist centre for complex endometriosis, menopause, fertility and acts as a cancer unit within the South West Thames network. Additionally, there are busy urogynaecology, early pregnancy and termination of pregnancy services.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out emergency duties in A&E and on Labour ward including the initial assessment and investigation of patients who attend the Labour ward, Triage and A&E and assist in obstetric and gynaecological emergencies. They will also be expected to see patients under consultant supervision in outpatient clinics including antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics and the early pregnancy assessment unit. There will also be opportunities to assist in elective obstetric procedures and general gynaecological surgery including the day case and inpatient elective surgery.
