Job summary
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and energetic paediatrician trained to consultant level. The post holder will manage and care for patients within the acute paediatric pathway through ED and the PSSU, working closely with colleagues in the local CCG and other relevant agencies to improve the acute pathway for Children and their families. They will be able to support junior doctors in training and manage the demands of a busy department.
This role will also participate in the neonatal (SCBU) attending system and general paediatric on-call.
They will cover general paediatric, neonatal and rapid access outpatient clinics. A special interest will be considered according to the needs of the department.

A provisional timetable denoting the allocation of fixed/non-fixed commitments is as follows. The job plan may be subject to change in the future, subject to the needs of the service. This would be via consultation with the post holder. The successful post holder will discuss the use of SPA time with their service director within 3 months of commencing post to ensure that supporting activity is in line with the objectives and requirements of the service and the Trust.
This post is based at West Middlesex site.
This timetable is calculated on a weekly average of 8.5 DCC to 1.5 SPA which has been annualised to account for 42 working weeks per year.
There are SCBU attending commitments 1:6 (8.7 attending weeks per year). In this role the attending week will be on the special care baby unit. The non-attending timetable occurs 33 weeks of the year.
The PSSU (paediatric short stay unit) weekends are undertaken by all consultants 1:12
The attending weekends are split Friday/Sunday and Saturdays. This includes an on-site component to complete ward rounds (on both paediatric wards and SCBU) followed by non-resident on call until the following morning.
