Job summary
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, forward-thinking substantive Consultant Gynaecologist with Special interest inEarly Pregnancy, Acute Gynaecology and Gynaecology Governance.
The successful candidate will join a large consultant team providing general and specialised gynaecology services to the population of North West London and neighbouring areas. The post will be based at the West Middlesex site but with an expectation of some cross-site working.
The appointment will be 10 PAs and includes being resident on call.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will provide a high quality Obstetrics and Gynaecology service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues already in post. It would be expected that the consultant offers continuous responsibility for the care of patients named under their team.
Whilst this post is initially and primarily based at the West Middlesex site, all appointments may require cross-site working to varying degrees.
In particular we are looking for a colleague to support the acute gynaecology and early pregnancy services care and leading the gynaecology governance service. These services are already established and the successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop these specialist services further.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an active interest in the management of high risk women with early pregnancy and acute gynaecology problems. It is expected that the successful individual will provide a unified multidisciplinary approach to the care of women with early pregnancy and acute a gynaecology problems.
There will be dedicated time for teaching medical students (tutorials, ward, clinic and theatre based learning) and for post graduate teaching and training (Friday post graduate afternoons are statutory sessions for all staff). Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.

Roles of the post
1.0 Provide a consultant led service in the early pregnancy unit and whilst providing acute gynaecology support. Participation with the early pregnancy unit multi-disciplinary meetings and contribute to the on call rota.
1.1 Evolve and write, in line with Trust governance policies, pathways for patients seen within the acute gynaecology service.
1.2 Conduct root-cause analysis and serious incident investigations, organise and chair the gynaecology morbidity meetings.
1.3 Work with the service director and gynaecology matron to outcome all gynaecology incidents, patient experience and update and manage the risk register.
1.4 Work with the multidisciplinary team to undertake a senior role in the general provision of Obstetric and Gynaecological Services at West Middlesex Hospital
1.5 Contribute to the resident night on-call rota
1.6 Provide senior leadership in the management of high risk patients antenatally, intrapartum and postpartum in close co-operation with other specialties.
1.7 To provide general gynaecology services in outpatients, theatre and emergency care.
1.8 Facilitate the triage of emergency gynaecology operations as per NCEPOD recommendations to avoid operating out-of-hours (i.e. 17h00 to 08h00) whenever feasible.
1.9 Attend all theatre cases to perform surgery, unless satisfied a trainee is competent to perform the operation with indirect supervision
1.10 Assessment and delivery of immediate medical attention of deteriorating elective post-op gynaecology patients
1.11 Obstetric on call commitments as part of the departmental on call rota
1.12 Support obstetric colleagues with advice/ surgical assistance, e.g. major obstetric haemorrhage.
1.13 Support the Emergency Surgical Consultant with a consultant gynaecological opinion/ ultrasound
