Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a full-time (10PA) Locum Consultant in HIV and GU Medicine at 10 Hammersmith Broadway (10HB), Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This would be a one year post, designed to provide experience of the Consultant role within a supportive senior team.
The role is based at 10HB with one day per week at the St Stephen's Centre to facilitate attendance at senior meetings and the virtual clinic, with an afternoon GUM session within the John Hunter clinic.
Main duties of the job
The successful post-holder will act in a senior role in the clinic, supervising the multidisciplinary team and providing screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients with STIs, including HIV infection. They will also be expected to provide contraception including LARC, and advance the progress of integrated sexual health services with a focus on improving post-pandemic. 10HB has an established research portfolio and the post-holder will be encouraged to contribute to recruitment and (should they wish) take on a local PI role.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead on service improvements and innovation, to maintain and develop Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust's reputation as a world leader in the field of STIs and HIV. This will include the expansion of outreach services to target more vulnerable groups and the optimisation of cost efficiency of the service, including implementation of new technologies and development of services. They will be expected to work with other colleagues at the Trust to deliver and improve outpatient HIV care, including recruitment to clinical trials, and will manage their own HIV cohort.
They will work alongside colleagues in providing educational supervision for the multidisciplinary team and participate in educational activities, the Virtual Clinic and the weekly Directorate HIV resistance meeting. In particular, the post-holder will act as an educational supervisor for nominated junior staff.
