An exciting secondment / fixed term opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) with a special interest supporting people with type 1 Diabetes and Disordered Eating (T1DE).
This post will support NHS England funded type 1 diabetes and disordered eating service for Cheshire and Merseyside as part of DSN team.
The post holder will be based at Aintree University Hospital but the service also located at a site in Cheshire. They will work alongside a consultant diabetologist, consultant psychiatrist, consultant psychologist, and eating disorder specialists from tour mental health partners to provide comprehensive help to patients attending the service.
Opportunities for training and observation will be provided and all service members will be offered peer support from the psychology team.
Main duties of the job
Act as Diabetes clinical expert and professional resource to Multi-Professional teams, patients and carers within the Speciality service. The post holder will support the development of specialist area of practice in partnership with other members of the speciality teams across Acute, Community and Primary Care Service. The post holder will carry responsibility for a defined case load and offer highly specialist advice, setting standards of care, the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the clinical service group/speciality corporate objectives and work within the clinical governance framework They will lead the development and delivery of a programme of practice and professional development for delivery of care within the specialist area.
