Job summary
Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will be responsible for developing policies and strategies for the organisation, implementation and procurement of various Trust capital projects together with providing expert specialist and professional construction and estates project advice to estates staff, directors, senior management and external agencies.
You will play a major role in updating the Trust's Property Portfolio, ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date, including leases.
You will manage a small team of multidisciplinary estates projects staff, in commissioning and project managing capital projects of the Trusts Capital Programme improving the environment for patients and staff.
You will provide a Capital Design Service and demonstrate a commitment to delivering an environment conductive to high quality healthcare for staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible to the Head of Estates for the management and delivery of all Capital Projects undertaken on Trust properties. The post holder will:

As the Head of Capital Projects, you will be working with the full range of clinicians, PFI partners, staff groups and patient forums/focus groups, as required, interpret the client brief for schemes, provide advice as required, manage, prepare, and collate feasibility studies with other team members, provide and deliver large, intermediate and minor works contracts, some of a highly complex nature, within budget and timescales as required by the Trust.
With input from other team members provide budget costs and forecasts for new schemes to be included in the Capital Programme and the Trust's Strategic Planning Programme for other external NHS organisations.
Ensure financial control of all schemes/VET's undertaken in the value range of £5,000 to £5,000,000, including authorisation of payments and valuations and liaise closely with members of the Planning and Finance Departments in cost control. Ensure full compliance with the Trust's detailed Financial Procedures, Standing Orders, Standing Financial Instructions and the department's Contract Procedures.
