An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the stoma team at theUniversity Hospitals of Liverpool Group.
The role of the stoma nurse will be to support the stoma team in the Digestive and Emergency Surgery care group. You will be providing specialist care and giving advise to patients with stomas.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care for our group of patients. The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of stoma care. This will support the care for our patients. You will be communicating complex and sensitive information to patients and their families or carers.
The role includes educating patients, their families or carers on caring for stoma. This will include advice on lifestyle and equipment for patients with newly formed stomas and long- term stomas, The successful candidate will provide advice to address new education or challenges patients may face.
the Clinical Nurse Specialist will work closely with the current stoma team across sites of UHLG. They will work closely with surgeons and other members of the Multi Disciplinary Team. The CNS will participate in out-patient clinics.
The role will also include participation in audit and research and development of the stoma service.
