Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Diabetes and Endocrinology team as a Clinical Fellow based at the Aintree Hospital site. There are three posts available within the area and the candidates would support the clinical and nursing teams across the three ward bases, Ward 20, Ward 21 and Ward 25 consisting of 87 beds.

There will be teaching and outpatient clinic opportunities with this role to support the trusts core mission and values delivering quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Fellow Diabetes and Endocrine post is for doctors interested in pursuing a careers in diabetes, endocrinology and General internal medicine. Their role includes working at IMT 1 level or above on the wards, looking after general medical patients and supervising foundation doctors and medical students. They will also be expected to be involved with the ward multidisciplinary team and take a leadership role in helping to achieve safe and timely discharge. They will be expected to mange a number of complex diabetes and endocrine inpatient issues such as diabetic foot emergencies and DKA. There will also be the opportunity to attend weekly diabetes or endocrine clinics as wells as to get involved with audit and quality improvement projects, as well as research. There is no general medical out of hours on call in this role.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB ChB or MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for)

Clinical Experience
