An exciting opportunity has arisen within Stoke Services.
We are looking to recruit into the Stroke Clinicians team working in the Stroke Emergency Assessment Centre (SEAC) Aintree Site.
The aim of the stroke specialist nurse role is to provide high quality evidence-based care to stroke and TIA patients who attend the Trust
The Stroke Specialist nurse works autonomously and provides highly specialised treatment & care
The role involves assessing, diagnosing and initiating treatment to the patients with an acute stroke, which includes assessment and delivery of treatment to patients eligible for thrombolysis and IAT.
The Stroke Nurse is responsible for assessing and arranging TIA clinic appt for patients who are referred via either primary or secondary care.
The team provides 7 day 24 hour cover within the trust

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Stroke Team to improve the patient experience and deliver high quality, effective nursing care
A passion for nursing is essential as well as an enthusiasm for championing the needs of Stroke patients and their families/carers
We would be happy to offer the post has a development role for a band 6 with the provision of progressing to band 7 after 12 months
Main duties of the job
The objectives of the role are to:
- To identify Stroke and TIA patients who attend SEAC , A&E, AMU and inpatient wards.
- Provide a comprehensive stroke assessment
- Assessment, and delivery of treatment for acute stroke patients and those for Thrombolysis, and IAT.
- Liaise with Radiology Team for various imaging.
- provide out of hours telemedicine service.
- Collect and upload data into local, national and international databases.
- Outreach to wards for inpatients strokes and TIA within the trust.
- Liaise with the wider community team i.e. GP, ESD team

The clinical nurse specialist will act as the clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-professional team, patients and carers within their speciality service.
The post holder will carry responsibility for either a defined case load or offering "highly specialist service advice" - this will include setting standards of care, the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, management and education.
The post holder will contribute to achieving objectives of the clinical service and work within the clinical governance framework
This will be achieved through the core dimensions of the role, clinical practice, leadership, acting as the patient advocate and through audit and education
