Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and visionary nurse leader to join us as the Assistant Director of Nursing for Palliative Care & Acute Oncology at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. The successful post holder will work along side the current part-time Assistant Director of Nursing to provide professional nursing leadership and expertise within the service, assist in the development and implementation of the Palliative Care and Acute Oncology services, and contribute to the delivery of the Palliative, End of Life and Bereavement Care Strategy.

This pivotal role will support the Trust in delivering great patient care and maintaining our position at the forefront of healthcare excellence. As the Assistant Director of Nursing for Palliative Care & Acute Oncology you will be responsible for leading and managing the operational nursing function across the service, ensuring that the highest professional standards are maintained at all times. You will work closely with the Consultant Clinical Lead and Head of Operations to facilitate the efficient and effective management of resources within the department.

The successful post holder will be required to work cross site across Aintree University Hospital, Woodlands Hospice, Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Director of Nursing willdevelop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and analysis of health, service and nursing policies, guidance and developments relating to Palliative and End of Life Care and Acute Oncology, for reliance within the Trust, working with other members of the divisional, care group and the departmental senior management teams to translate these into both strategy and action.

The successful post holder will provide professional nursing leadership and expertise within the service, acting as a role model for other nursing colleagues.

In addition, the post holder will develop and implement innovative and integrated approaches to nursing and service developments and processes, focused on patient need to improve the patient's journey.
