Job summary

The purpose of this post is to provide comprehensive support to the Research Recruitment Team. The assistant will be expected to perform a variety of clerical/research duties within a research environment and in such a way as to make a direct and positive contribution to the organisation of the work aiding the recruitment team to maximise the effective use of their time.

Main duties of the job

Administrative support to the Research Recruitment & Engagement Team including (but not limited to) liaising with GP practices, booking patient appointments, managing mailboxes, uploading data to databases, keeping records accurate. The post holder will also be expected to attend community Engagement Events regularly.

Job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities listed below are not intended to be exhaustive but are set out to indicate the main areas of activity expected. Post-holders will therefore be expected to adopt a flexible approach when required.1. Liaise with all other departments within the hospital, i.e. wards, medicaloutpatient departments, cardio-respiratory department, medical records etc. with regard to all aspects of patient care, e.g. Appointments, investigations etc.2. Operate computer to enter and retrieve data (Microsoft Excel & Access etc.).3. Attend internal and external events to promote the Consent 4 ConsentDatabase4. Typing of correspondence, reports, research articles, lecture and teaching materials as required.5. Maintain recruitment logs for clinical trials.6. Supervised collection of data / identification of suitable patients for clinical trials (Screening medical records / wards / clinics) after appropriate training.7. Pre-screening of potential volunteers following pre-approved standardised checklists

Deal with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff andclinical trial personnel, recording messages where appropriate.11. Observe strict confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles.13. Attend training courses as and when required.14.
