This is an exciting post for two x full time substantive specialty gastroenterology doctor post based at Royal Liverpool Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department.
The appointee will be expected to work flexibly and be responsible for day-to-day patient care, ward rounds and gastroenterology medicine clinic sessions and review of referrals from other specialties.
During this time, he/she will be working with the support of the gastroenterology consultants on the ward and will be expected to increase his/her clinical knowledge and skills.
The post holder will be expected to share knowledge and skills with junior members of staff, offering support and learning opportunities. The post holder will be responsible for supervising the FY1, FY2 and IMT doctors and work closely with the consultants, focusing on providing acute gastroenterology care early in the patient's hospital journey (In reach service).
There will be opportunity to undertake upper and lower GI endoscopy. The current post will have JAG Certification to practice upper and lower endoscopies independently with evidence of skills in endoscopic hemostasis's to be able to undertake on call on a GI bleed rota.

In addition an annual appraisal will be undertaken. Non-Clinical Activities will generally be undertaken on site, however it is recognised that, with agreement, they may be flexible in time and location to facilitate flexibility in Direct Clinical Care.

- MB, ChB/MBBS
- Full registration with GMC.
- MRCP

- High standard to support independent practice as a Consultant Gastroenterologist
- Endoscopic skills for acute GI bleeding
Desirable
- To have a good understanding of 'Good Medical Practice' from the GMC
Experience

- Wide experience in luminal gastroenterology
- Evidence of continuing medical education
- Experience of teaching skills to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines
- Training or education course

- Train the Trainer qualification and experience
