Job summary
The appointee will have a commitment to the provision of OMFS services at Aintree with sessions at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.
In addition, other duties will include administration, attendance at meetings and continuing medical education. It is expected that the appointee will participate in the on-call rota for out of hours care and emergencies.
The timetable is based on a 10 PA job plan with 8.5 Direct clinical care including 1 for clinical administration and 1.5 PA core SPA initially. PAs include Trauma Consultant of the Week (TCoW) which is 1 in 16 frequency.
There will be opportunities to be involved in undergraduate and post graduate medical and dental education with additional PAs allocated if needed.
Newly appointed consultants are offered 1.5 SPAs as defined by the Trust's job-planning policy. It is expected that the job plan will change as the new consultant's roles expand beyond basic clinical commitments.
Additional SPAs are discretionary/performance managed against clearly agreed set objectives. A timetable of the fixed sessions is attached.
Main duties of the job
The role also involves the management of patients in the Supra Regional commissioned Craniofacial Team at Alder Hey and Aintree University Hospital.
The successful applicant will be part of a team of 4 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Consultants (2 x Craniofacial and 2 Cleft sub-specialty interests), 3 Consultant Neurosurgeons and 1 Plastic Surgery Consultant, each with roles within the Craniofacial MDT setting.
The successful applicant will also be involved in the Merseyside Maxillofacial On-Call service based primarily at Aintree University Hospital and Alder Hey.
