Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time R/N in our Private Outpatients Department. Our unit provides multi-speciality consultation / diagnostic & phlebotomy services in addition to X-ray, ultrasound and physiotherapy services. We undertake a number of on-site minor operations & procedures and also have an in-patient unit (The Sefton Suite ward & theatre ) within the main grounds of Aintree Hospital for which we provide pre and post-op care for the more invasive surgical cases.
Main duties of the job
To work within a small team of staff assuming responsibility for the smooth running of outpatient clinics including supervision, delegation and direction of junior nursing staff. The post-holder will be required to be involved in all aspects of the outpatient clinics and will need to demonstrate a flexible approach due to the wide and varied demands of the role. Excellent IT skills and knowledge and experience in a surgical environment would also be advantageous.

To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care
To prioritise patient care ensuring a safe and comfortable environment is maintained at all times and due regard is given to the customs, values and beliefs of patients.
Prepares environment ensuring all equipment, stationary and clinical notes and are readily available, stock levels are maintained and all equipment is checked and in safe working order.
Undertakes a wide range of tasks and duties participating in all aspects of the outpatient clinics providing both clinical & admin support.
Provides information and support to patients as required and promotes effective communication within the multi-disciplinary team including consultants, anaesthetists, admin etc, to ensure continuity of care.
To develop clinical knowledge & skills and undertake expanded practice , under supervision , in order to optimise patient care in accordance with Trust / departmental policies.
Maintain nursing records in accordance with NMC and Trust guidelines.
Manage allocated workload and provide supervision to less experienced staff.
Reports all incidents, accidents, complaints to the unit manager and completes Trust incident forms in accordance with Trust policies & procedures.
Ensures own standards are maintained in relation to clinical governance and works within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times..
