Job summary

This is a substantive full-time consultant Radiologist post based at Aintree University Hospital Foundation Trust. This post is a cross site position, encompassing our two hospitals in the Trust; Aintree Hospital and Royal Liverpool Hospital, however this role will predominantly be based on the Aintree site. The appointment offers an exciting opportunity to join an established team consisting of nearly 70 radiologists. In addition to providing typical outpatient and acute services as expected from a university teaching hospital, we are also a level I trauma centre.

An essential aspect of the role is having the skill set to undertake lung biopsies, which are a key pressure within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To provide a first-class clinical service in Cross Sectional Radiology. To provide specialist Radiological opinion and reports in chest and cardiac imaging.

To undertake lung biopsies

To supervise junior medical staff in Diagnostic Radiology.

To provide radiological expertise in terms of advice for imaging and reporting.

To take part in the Radiology Audit, Governance, Consultant and Departmental Meetings.

To prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.

To participate on the Diagnostic on call Consultant Radiology rota.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB ChB (or equivalent)
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for)
  • Eligible for specialist register in Radiology

Clinical and governance experience

Essential

  • CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining one at time of interview
  • Subspecialty training in Cross Sectional Radiology
  • Evidence of continuing medical education
