Applications are invited for the post of Senior Oncoplastic Breast Surgery (Clinical) Fellow post, which will run from 5th Aug'24 until 31st July'25.

The successful candidate will train within the Breast & Endocrine Surgery Unit. Breast services are delivered over the 3 sites within the LUHFT Trust.
The Breast surgery team offer a full range of breast diagnostic and oncological surgeries; we offer complex breast conservation with multi-site resections, mammoplasty and local perforator flaps. Whole-breast reconstruction with implant (pre- & sub-pec) and LD-flaps are offered for both therapeutic and Risk-Reducing case.
We offer therapeutic breast surgery to both symptomatic and screening diagnosed patients within Liverpool and the wider Merseyside area. At present we diagnose and treat approximately 900 cancer per year.
The Breast surgery team work closely with the endocrine surgery team and provide cross-cover on occasions, mainly for peri-operative ward care. The units have strong links to the breast radiology team, Plastic Surgery service in the region, the pathology department and Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the elective activity of the unit by assisting in a variety of Diagnostic and Results/Follow-up clinics and Breast theatre lists; independent practice is encouraged once the candidate is appropriately inducted into the unit.
Regular participation in Breast Screening & Main Oncology MDT is expected; there is access to a Metastatic Breast MDT for educational purposes as needed. The candidate will present and manage the oncoplastic breast MDT with the training registrar's attached to the unit.
The candidate would be expected to attend clinics and theatre sessions on the Royal Liverpool (RLH), Broadgreen(BGH) & Aintree Hospital (AUH) sites; Shuttle bus and parking permits are available to assist in cross-site working.
There is no on-call component to this post, however managing breast complications/emergencies, within standard hours, will be required on occasions

We would be expecting the post-holder to undertake appropriate administrative activities, audit and assist with medical student teaching during the post. We would facilitate involvement in clinical research, service improvement and provide experience of Management & Leadership within the NHS.
We will encourage time to spend be spent with Breast Radiology and Oncology and will incorporate this into the timetable. An annual appraisal using tools from the ISCP training site and maintaining a logbook will be essential; the candidate will be offered and Assigned Educational Supervision and be assessed with Multi-Consultant Reporting form the clinical supervisors at defined intervals during the job.
