An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our highly skilled and motivated workforce in the Cardiac Day Care Unit & Cardiac Catheter Lab based at Aintree Site . We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 nurses to complement our friendly multidisciplinary team.
We perform a range of specialist cardiac interventions, including Angiograms as well as Permanent pacemakers. We have one lab with arecovery area a Ambulatory Heart Failure Service.
The successful candidate would rotate between the Cardiac Catheter labs, recovery area and the Ambulatory Heart Failure service as well asassisting in a number of different procedures. You would receive full training plan and be given a mentor during the training process

Main duties of the job
To participate in the effective running of the department
To provide nursing care in all areas - Cath lab, Day ward, Ambulatory Heart Failure.
To act as a scrub or circulating nurse during procedures
To act as and assistant during procedures carried out in the Cath lab
To participate in the daily running and management of the Cardiac Day Case Unit
To insert peripheral cannulae and take blood samples where required
To assist consultant operator in cath lab during insertion of Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) as required
o To ensure that all emergency and routine equipment is maintained in good working order. o To provide assistance to the surgical and anaestheticteams as required. o To carry out safety checks of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with a second person in accordance withTrust/Local policy. o To undertake the following procedures as required, when training has been given. o Administration of intravenous drugs. o TRband deployment & removal . o Femstop deployment. o Removal of arterial and venous sheaths. o To maintain the highest standard of asepsis both in the preparation for, and the duration of the procedures. o To maintain accurate records of each procedure by maintaining the Cath lab databaseprocedure log. o Thoroughly check the details of a patient on arrival and again prior to any procedure starting in accordance with the WHOchecklist ( LocSSIPs/NatSSIP)
