Due to the expansion of our nursing team we have exciting opportunities for passionate and "can do" band 3 Healthcare Assistants.
Ward 15 Surgical Ward
The Emergency general surgical unit provides complete care for patients with multiple surgical and medical conditions.
Ward 15 cares for surgical patients pre and post operatively and patients with vascular and medical conditions.
For this role you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, you must display a positive and professional manner, have a non judgmental attitude, be open to change and have the drive and commitment to aim to get it right for every patient every time.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting the Ward / Department team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carer. The post holder will undertake a range of tasks and duties as delegated by a registered nurse.
These will include duties such as,
Participating in all aspects of patient care with particular attention to personal hygiene and grooming.
Assisting patients with toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
Supporting patients in managing incontinence and promotion of continence. Working alongside the registered nurse in assisting patients with stoma care post operatively.
The recording of a patient's fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts.
Preparation and serving of patient's meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting / feeding patients as necessary.
Recording patient's dietary intake when indicated in the patient's plan of care.
Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered nurse in conjunction with the patient's plan of care.
Carry out any movement and handling within the safe practice guidelines from your mandatory training and in relation to the patient's manual handling plan.
Removal of cannulas, catheters and nasogastric tubes.
Dressing of non-complex wounds (in accordance with identified competencies and in conjunction with the plan of care)Naso-gastric/PEG feeding.
