Job summary
The successful candidate will participate in an ENT specific 1:7 emergency on-call partial shift rota at Core Trainee level.
This rota is shared with the specialist ENT advanced nurse practitioners. Although the unit accepts referrals from 3 neighbouring DGH trusts, there is no cross site cover with all admissions being admitted centrally to Aintree; emergencies may be received from Southport, Ormskirk & Whiston Hospitals.
Main duties of the job

This rota is shared with the specialist ENT advanced nurse practitioners and CT1S. Although the unit accepts referrals from 3 neighbouring DGH trusts, there is no cross site cover with all admissions being admitted centrally to Aintree; emergencies may be received from Southport, Ormskirk & Whiston Hospitals.
On site provision of emergency care is also occasionally required at the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery which is also on the Aintree site and attached to Aintree hospital.

LUHFT department consists of 18 ENT consultants, all of whom have developed subspecialist interests and many of whom have both a national and international reputation for excellence and innovation within their fields of expertise.
Outpatient work at Aintree is delivered in a new (2010) 8 roomed, fully equipped ENT outpatient Suite. We have a designated ENT / MFU theatre suite at Aintree with 5 theatres. The department is supported by a state-of-the-art audiological service providing all aspects of audio-vestibular investigations and rehabilitation.
A bi-weekly thyroid MDT and weekly head & neck MDT takes place in a designated video-conference linked MDT room.
The hospital runs many national and international training courses. The department is committed to both research and audit work and the successful candidate will have access to an enormous amount of clinical outcome data from which they can develop their own research / audit interests under the supervision of a highly productive academic surgical team within the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre.
