Job summary

This is an opportunity to join a large multidisciplinary team providing a comprehensive imaging , non-imaging and therapeutic radionuclide service.

The department is equipped with a GE MI GEN2 PET/CT, 2 GE 870 DR SPECT/CT and 1 GE 870 Starguide scanners and 1 GE DEXA scanner.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and perform clinical Nuclear Medicine procedures whilst providing a high level of patient care. You will participate in all Nuclear Medicine imaging and non-imaging services . You will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the patient experience are of the highest standard whilst adhering to appropriate legislation and Trust policy.

As a senior member of the team, you will act in a supervisory capacity providing direction, leadership and support to your colleagues.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of Nuclear Medicine and you will be required to work in a timely, organised and caring manner to deliver a high quality, patient focused service.

Participation in all aspects of Continuing Professional Development is expected. Registration as a Radiographer, or registration with an appropriate PSA-accredited register (for example, the RCT or AHCS) as a Clinical Technologist specialising in Nuclear Medicine is essential.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT department on the RLUH site and to ensure service standardisation within the 7/24 hour service.
  2. To act as the radiographic clinical expert in their relevant field, this includes decisions re further imaging .
  3. To liaise closely with lead clinicians thus contributing to the effective running of the service.
  4. To protocol Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT requests under guidance of ARSAC holder.
  5. To be responsible for the monitoring and ordering where appropriate of radiology consumables within the Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT suites.

  7. Maintain a team of radiographers to a level of competency where they can operate the unit smoothly in times of the post holders absence and are able to provide a first-class service.

  10. To maintain accurate documentation pertinent to the examination.
