Main duties of the job
Lead on the professional and clinical development of the Dermatology Nursing Team and expansion of nurse led services across the sites
Provide expert clinical adviceto all medical and nursing Dermatology staff to ensure best practice standards are met that willclinically improveoutcomes and influence a reduction in unnecessary interventions and facilitate self-management for patients with skin cancer.
Make independent clinical decisions and initiate investigations, care /treatment and technological intervention within an agreed framework.
Mentoring, Teaching and Assessing
In-depth knowledge of appropriate NICE guidelines relating to dermatology/skin cancer
Extensive experience of nursing patients with acute and chronic skin conditions, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating plans of care
Prescribing dermatological medications
Performing minor surgical procedures
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
IT competent

As a Dermatology Nurse Consultant you will be already experienced in working in Dermatology Services and have a sound clinical management background, already displaying independent practice. You will enjoy being an active participant in developing services through engagement and team work, supporting the development of staff and be a key player in the service success.
The post holder will be expected to influence and support national, regional, and local strategy in relation to Dermatology Services and will represent the service at Trust wide clinical meetings.
They will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and display the ability to establish partnership working internally and externally to represent the service development.
You will be expected to communicate effectively in demanding and challenging situations and be a team player, you will be experienced in Dermatology and possess a Masters qualification in the relevant field and have a non-medical prescribing qualification (V300). The post holder will be required to have outstanding clinical and leadership skills.
