LIVERPOOL UNIVERSITY DENTAL HOSPITAL
The post holder will join the existing team which has recently expanded to include Specialists in Orthodontics and Orthodontic Therapists. There are currently five NHS consultants, one locum NHS consultant, two University of Liverpool Honorary Consultants, two orthodontic specialists, two orthodontic therapists, 9 StRs/Postgraduate students, 2 Post-CCST trainees, and a part-time dental hygienist in the department.
There is a close working relationship with other dental specialties within the Dental Hospital and with the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Aintree University Hospital.
The appointee will contribute to the education of UG and PG students.
There will also be opportunities within the unit to take part in and develop research and quality improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to conduct new patient and treatment activity, to help maintain the Departmental patient target activities and provide consultant cover as and when necessary.
The appointee will be involved in teaching and training of StRs, postgraduate students and post-CCST trainees in Orthodontics.
The post-holder will be expected to participate in continuing dental education meetings and in quality improvement initiatives and is expected to work within the Trust's Clinical Governance frameworks.
Multi-disciplinary clinical care is central to the clinical aspect of the post and sub-specialty interests will be supported.
