Job summary
The appointee would join an enthusiastic team which includes 18 consultants (4 others of whom have an interest in stone disease), 8 SpRs and a number of clinical and research fellows, CSTs, FY1s, many specialist nurses and numerous other nursing, administrative and operational staff and allied healthcare professionals.
The newly merged Urology Department covers Urological services across the City of Liverpool in a hub and spoke model. The main hub is based at the New Royal Liverpool Hospital which houses all elective and emergencies in-patients in a 42-bed all single room unit across 1.5 wards. The Urology Wards contain a Urology Assessment Unit with protected beds and an enhanced recovery area. The department has 40 elective operating sessions mostly on the New Royal site.
Outpatient services are based in a new Urology Investigation Unit co-located on the New Royal Liverpool site. A second and new Urology Investigation Unit on the Aintree site has received funding and executive approval and is building is due to commence in early 2023. It is anticipated that most stone investigation and treatment will be based on the New Royal site
Main duties of the job
All clinical commitments including theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, MDT
Admin/SPA sessions
On-call week with additional weekend on-call at Aintree Hospital due to merge of urology services across the city
The Trust supports the requirements for CPD as laid down by the GMC and surgical colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
