Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality professional to join the Liverpool Clinical Laboratories Quality Team in a new role as Quality Practitioner. The successful applicant will manage the quality aspects of HODS, providing expert advice, support and leadership in quality management and delivering on all aspects of quality, governance and Health & Safety.
This is a challenging, high profile and complex role, requiring advanced communication skills, strong leadership and management skills and the ability to engage with staff at all levels both internal and external to the organisation. You will be responsible for implementing the LCL quality management system in the departments and afterwards monitoring compliance with quality and risk management standards, Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be competent in Quality, Health & Safety activities such as audits, routine checks/inspections, risk management, document management and COSHH. The successful candidate will be a HCPC registered BMS and ideally previous experience in Molecular department. Please note that experience is UKAS accreditation and compliance with ISO standard 15189:2012 is essential and non-HCPC registered applications will be considered.

1.1 Must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and conform to the HCPC code of conduct for Biomedical Scientists and Clinical Scientists. CPD must be maintained.
1.2 Must have a thorough knowledge and extensive practical experience of Quality Management and Health & Safety. Extensive knowledge of accreditation standards not only pertinent to Medical Laboratories but also relating to equipment.
1.3 To ensure compliance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which reflect local and national standards of work practice e.g. Clinical Pathology Accreditation Standards (CPA)/UKAS.
1.4 To produce & review the Quality Manual & Policy for the department.
1.5 Should possess a higher education qualification such as Fellowship ofthe IBMS. Must have or be working towards a Quality Management Qualification such as one by the IBMS, the CQI or equivalent or be a member of the CQI (minimum ACQI or PCQI.)
1.6 To lead in the maintenance of accreditation within the departments including audit, incidents and ensuring timely responses or actions as a result of internal external audit reports.
