Static band 4 in Hand therapy team
The Liverpool Universities Hospitals foundation trust Therapies Directorate are looking for enthusiastic and reliable team players to join them. Therapies includes Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics, Podiatry and Speech and Language Therapy.
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a band 4 Assistant practitioner, we would like to request applications from existing band 4 AP's and staff with relevant experience to apply with a view to complete theband 4AP via the apprentice role within the Therapy Teams across the LUHFT sites.
The main areas of work available are:
Aintree University Hospital - Hand therapy team, but you may be required to work with the hand therapy team at Broadgreen Hospitalor other sites across the organisation.
We are looking to attract a motivated, adaptable, compassionate anddedicated individual to begin a supported apprenticeship scheme.
If you do not have the AP qualification, Foundation degree or equivalent: you will need an NVQ level3inhealthcare alongwithbothMathsand English qualification at level 2 (GCSE equivalent grade C or above) If you do not possess the AP qualification successful candidates will complete the apprenticeship AP training programme.
Main duties of the job
The MSK hand therapy services cover clinical areas including: - physiotherapy and occupational therapy. All posts are subject to 7day shift working pattern and staff are required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
To support registered staff in the administrative duties required for the functioning of the Therapy Department.
To take responsibility for own caseload providing direct Therapy intervention for an identified patient group under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
To be accountable for own clinical practice whilst undertaking the assessment and treatment/intervention of identified patient group within agreed parameters and defined protocols of care.
To take part in specific treatment modalities particular to hands (training will be provided)
- Wound management/care
- Scar management
- Swelling control
- Involvement in splint manufacture (thermoplastic materials)
- Fit and supply of off the shelf splints
- Functional rehabilitation group work
To participate in and contribute to audit and service development.
If you do not possess the AP qualification successful candidates will complete the apprenticeship AP training programme. The apprenticeship will run for approximately 24 months and will involve day release 1 dayper week at Hugh Baird College. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the staff member will be uplifted permanently to Band 4.
