Job summary

This exciting new fellowship post provides you with a one-year fixed term opportunity to work across the Chief Pharmaceutical Officers Office and Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) as our first national pharmacy technician fellow.

You will have the opportunity to develop strong networks, your strategic thinking and undertake a leadership programme. We will ensure that you link in with Fellows on other schemes so that you can establish peer networks and really embrace the opportunities of being on a fellowship.

Putting all learning and experiences into practice will be a key element of this fellowship and examples of areas you will lead on are included in the job description and specification.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who is ready to work in a new way, providing professional leadership and advice relating to where pharmacy technicians can add value to national healthcare priorities linked to patient safety, medicines optimisation, digitalisation and pharmacy workforce training. You do not need to be subject matter expert in all those areas.

We welcome applications from experienced pharmacy technicians from any sector of healthcare. Your personal attributes and skills will be critical to what you achieve professionally and personally from the fellowship.

About us

The post is within the Medicines Use and Safety team at SPS who are hosted by Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Whilst some of the work will be undertaken remotely, you will be required to travel and spend some time in the NHS England's office in Waterloo, London. Working arrangements will be discussed at interview and we support flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Essential

  • Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or a qualification listed by the General Pharmaceutical Council pre 2017 standards
  • Registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Maintain fitness to practice via GPhC revalidation requirements
  • Educated to master's level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent.

Desirable

  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Practice or Education Supervisor/Assessor/IV education qualification

  • Significant experience of managing a service or staff at a senior level
  • Demonstrates clear professional leadership aspirations for future leadership and career development
