Job summary
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist across both sites. The post is to complete the departmental structure of Diagnostic Breast Radiology Consultants Services across Royal Liverpool University Hospital and University Hospital Aintree.
The post will be fixed term for 12 months, full time (10 PA's) and will be a cross site job at LUHFT.
The department offers a wide breadth of both diagnostic and interventional services.
Main duties of the job
To provide a first class clinical service in Breast & General Radiology
To supervise junior medical staff in Breast & General Radiology
To provide radiological expertise in terms of advice for imaging and reporting.
To take part in the Radiology Audit, Governance, Consultant and Departmental Meetings & continuing professional development.
To prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.
Annual CPR training is expected, along with other mandatory training.
Teaching:
Junior Staff
Post graduate lectures to FRCR and University students of Physics and Science.
Undergraduate medical and dental students as part of their curriculum.
Trainee radiographers & advanced radiographic practitioners, nurses, physicists and pharmacists. Involvement in training radiology registrars is expected.

The post is based across two sites (Royal Liverpool and Aintree Hospitals) and the appointee will join the existing team of Consultant Breast Radiologists currently working within the wider multi-disciplinary team. The Liverpool NHS Breast Screening Programme screens approximately 30,000 women per year from an eligible population of 127,489.
The appointee will be based in the Breast Unit at the Royal Liverpool Hospital & Marina Dalglish Unit at University Hospital Aintree, providing support to both the symptomatic breast service and the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
The 10 PA contract comprises 8.5 DCC sessions and 1.5 SPA sessions. Future commitments requiring additional PA time would be negotiable. The proposed job plan may include a fixed evening DCC activity, in line with all recent appointments and the requirement for an extended day 7 day service for the new hospital.
Applicants are required to be on the Specialist Register of the RCR before taking up the Consultant appointment with evidence of sub-specialty training in Breast Radiology and experience of working within the NHSBSP.
