Job summary

Applications are invited for a 4 days (8 PAs) post for a general rheumatologist with an interest in Connective Tissue Diseases (CTD) at Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. The service is delivered from Aintree University and Broadgreen Hospitals, covering all the trust sites.

The applicant should have an interest in CTD or willing to develop expertise on this field The person appointed will have their sessions at Aintree Hospital initially, with potential across-site working and eventually at the designated specialist hub for the new department.

The Rheumatology directorate has embraced the exciting opportunity offered by the merger to lead, optimise and redesign rheumatology services across Liverpool and wider region, increasing the tertiary service footprint in the Northwest.

The post holder will be working with a group of highly motivated colleagues and a large multidisciplinary team that includes a nurse consultant and specialist nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rheumatology pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside rheumatology colleagues in delivering outpatient services and consulting on inpatient referrals.

The post will include:

  • General rheumatology clinics
  • One specialist CTD clinic
  • 1:6 rota as consultant of the week (9-5pm) to cover referrals
  • 1:6 rota to manage the e-RAS (triaging new referrals) and Advice and Guidance
  • Participation in ILD combined clinic (every 2 months), Rheumatology MDT (weekly), renal MDT (monthly), specialist regional MDT (once a month)
  • Expectation to contribute in the development of specialist services.
