The Northwest Endoscopy Academy (NWEA) wishes to appoint 1 full time Clinical Fellow posts for a 12 month fixed term period commencing prior to April 2023.

This post will be suitable for candidates with full JAG certification in gastroscopy and at least provisional certification in colonoscopy (and polypectomy) with audit data supporting that the candidate's performance meets standard JAG Key Performance Indicators. (Candidates may have a medical or surgical background).

Main duties of the job

Funding from HEE and NHSEI has secured the development of the NW Endoscopy Academy (NWEA). The NWEA will provide multi-professional environments where training and education of the future workforce is the primary focus. The NWEA consists of a hub training centre (the Mersey School of Endoscopy, based in the Royal Liverpool University Hospital) and two spoke faculty centres based in each of the two other Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) in the region (Greater Manchester and Lancashire & South Cumbria).

Successful candidates will undertake 5 service endoscopy lists a week within the ICS. They will be based for the remaining part of the week at a base hospital in the ICS where they will have the opportunity to pursue advanced training in other areas. Opportunities to participate in specialty on-calls (including the GI bleed rota) will be available.
