Main duties of the job

The Senior Data Analyst will be a highly skilled specialist who will be key to the expert analysis, interpretation and provision of high quality statistical and management information to support delivery of analytics support to MIAA clients as well as internal in respect of MIAA business requirements, modernisation agenda and performance monitoring of MIAA.

The Senior Analyst will work closely with a range of health professionals including Directors, Managers, Administrators, Clinicians, and Nursing Staff etc. across a range of MIAA clients.

The role will also involve the day-to-day management of junior members of staff along with their knowledge, skills development and training, offering them help, advice and support along with checking and authorising their work.

This job description will be subject to periodic review and amendment in accordance with the needs of the MIAA.

We are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated individual interested in developing a career as a Senior Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Team in Liverpool.

As a Senior Data Analyst (Band 7) the starting salary will be from £40.057, gaining valuable experience delivering a range of interesting data analysis work and adding value to NHS and Public Sector organisations, all within a flexible working environment and with generous support towards your continued development and training.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain an advanced working knowledge of the following Software applications: Power BI, Sharepoint, Microsoft Power platform, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat document creator.

Maintain an advanced knowledge and be an expert user of MIAA systems Teammate (Audit working papers) and IDEA Analytics Software.

Maintain a specialist knowledge and understanding of NHS Information Management requirements and definitions in relation to Information Analysis.

Maintain a specialist knowledge and understanding of NHS data definitions and guidelines as defined in the NHS Data Dictionary.

Maintain robust complex analytical and reporting mechanisms including the planning, design, development, maintenance and end user training of new Databases, Queries and Reports etc. in relation to this role.

Plan own workload taking into account urgency, date Information is required and statutory and locally defined return requirements.

Communicate with internal and external individuals or groups in the detailed understanding of information requirements, requests, information produced and information management definitions.

Communicate with internal and external individuals regarding incomplete or inaccurate Information on MIAA Corporate Systems.

Offer expert advice and guidance across MIAA in the use of the analytics software (Power BI and IDEA) and give advice on how activity should be recorded, to ensure that it can be identified for analysis purposes, ensuring at all time that data definitions are adhered to.

Ensure the data analysed within your area of responsibility is corrected, when incorrect.

Monitor and formally report the progress of MIAA targets ensuring that potential issues are identified to relevant Business Unit Directors or Regional Managers and that the actions are taken by them to resolve.

Attend Meetings to discuss Information requirements and/or Information produced.

Develop and maintain an electronic filing structure to enable quick and easy retrieval of produced Information for Freedom of Information Requests.

Assist in the selection, recruitment, induction, appraisal and discipline of junior staff.

Plan the workload of junior team members ensuring the quantity and quality of work produced.

Develop the knowledge and skills of junior team members through training and advice in relation to the systems, software and processes used in Corporate Information.

Develop procedures and policies to be used across MIAA in relation to the exact way in which MIAA activity should be recorded on Corporate Systems.

Understand and adhere to all relevant Trust Policies.

Undertake any training activity to ensure Trust policies and procedures are understood, and to develop any new knowledge within the role.

Assist individuals in Freedom of Information requests, as per Trust policy.

Ensure departmental procedures within MIAA are kept up to date and create new procedures for any developments undertaken.

Respect differences in relation to equality and diversity ensuring colleagues and patients rights are not infringed.

Minimise any risk in the use of sensitive information to ensure that the Data Protection Act is adhered too.

Make suggestions to improve the service, and promote a no blame culture.

Deputise for the Head of Data Analytics, BI and Systems in his/her absence.

Cover sickness and holidays for other team members at the discretion of the Information Analyst Manager.

  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Attended Microsoft accredited training course for Access, Excel and Word

  • Experience in attending meetings with a range of professionals.
