They are an integral part of the MDT,providing for the acute therapy needs of patients and supporting their safe early transition out ofthe acute Trust.An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiasticPhysiotherapist to join our Acute Medicine & Respiratory Therapy Teams based at the RoyalLiverpool Hospital. Specialities include Gerontology, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, InfectiousDiseases, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Clinical Pharmacology, Renal, Diabetic Medicine,Haematology and Palliative Care. In these settings, physiotherapists have a key role in high levelclinical reasoning, risk identification and problem solving to enable patients to maintain theirindependence, to avoid admission and to support patient discharge at the earliest safe opportunity.

Main duties of the job
We wish to recruit a highly skilled clinician who has a clear understanding of the developing role ofthe physiotherapist in the acute setting; delivering innovative, responsive services to meet both theneeds of patients and the organisation. This split role requires excellent communication skills andthe ability to work as an effective member of the wider team as well as with other external agencies.
The post holder will have significant experience working with adults with complex presentations, inparticular older people with multiple co-morbidities.This role demands extensive post graduate knowledge and experience, therefore the post holdermust be highly competent in the triage, assessment and management of a wide range of acutemedical & respiratory conditions and presentations.This is a varied and challenging role and as such strong leadership skills are essential, requiringsomeone with initiative, a great team ethic, self-awareness, flexible thinking and problem solvingskills. The successful candidate must be committed and enthusiastic in providing high standardpatient care.The successful candidates must be able to work flexibly to meet service demands over a seven dayservice.
