Are you a registered healthcare professional looking for a chance to make a difference to protect our community? We want qualified vaccinators to contribute to the COVID vaccination programme in Liverpool. We have opened a new City Centre vaccination Hub at Pier Head and can offer bank shifts at Band 5 with variable hours, including evenings and weekends. Shifts are also available at the Aintree Hospital vaccination hub. The new hub is a collaboration between the Trust, Liverpool CCG and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
This role forms an integral part of the vaccination delivery in the Liverpool City region and you will be instrumental in ensuring we offer an excellent vaccination service to every individual who accesses our service. Anyone over the age of 18 can book to have a vaccine, so please join us to make a difference to our family and friends and the wider community that we serve. We are aiming to deliver thousands of vaccinations every week to keep our city safe.
Main duties of the job
If you are a Registered Healthcare Practitioner and would like to be part of this amazing programme to support our community, then we would love to hear from you.
You will undertake activities such as clinical assessment, supervision of junior staff, drawing up of the vaccine from multi-dose vials and post vaccine observations support.
Appropriate training, supervision and PPE will be provided to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers and patients.

- Assisting with the configuration of the vaccination pod and vaccination bay

Undertake multiple roles such as: clinical assessment, and drawing up of the vaccine from multi-dose vials and additional clinical support
- Enable the delivery of the vaccination programme to the public in line with JCVI priorities by assisting with the overall coordination of the site activity and day to day delivery of the programme
- Ensure clinic areas and equipment are available at the start of each session and replenished throughout the shift as required
Clinical Assessment
- Conduct pre-vaccination clinical assessments to confirm if the citizen meets the criteria for safe vaccination, including previous vaccinations undertaken, current health condition, assessment of any clinical conditions (medical history) and allergies.

- Address any concerns that may arise regarding the vaccine and contra-indications with citizens

Drawing Up
- Ensure vaccine preparation (drawing-up, ensuring correct storage and providing pre-prepared syringes to the vaccination station) as per the standard operating procedure (SOP).
- Ensure the reconstruction of the vaccine as per manufacturers instructions (where appropriate)
- Perform a visual check of the vaccine type, serial number and thawing/expiry date.
- Assist with the configuration of the vaccination pod: pod setup, recording of required vaccine stocks and consumables, PPE and sanitisation materials.
