Job summary
We are a busy and social Cross Sectional Imaging team. We have 2 GENESIS 160 slice CT Cannon scanners and 2 PRIME Cannon scanners, one of which is a dedicated trauma scanner. In addition to the CT service we have 2 top of the range new Philips Ingenia 1.5TMR scanners the Aera and Avanto providing an extensive MR scanning service. This post offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated Radiographer who wish to specialise into the world of Cross Sectional Imaging and Band 6s who wish to further their skills into Cardiac, Colonography and Trauma imaging. Experience in Cross Sectional Imaging is desirable but not essential. as we have merged with the Royal Liverpool Hospital there will be exciting opportunities in the future to work cross site and specialise.
Main duties of the job
- Perform specialist clinical duties by undertaking complex specialised radiological examinations in CT and MR and all aspects of patient care associated with this. To perform imaging examinations at a consistently high technical and professional standard.
- Post process image data and ensure a high quality of diagnostic information has been attained.
- Maintain correct patient records and statutory radiation records to reflect the examination performed.
Administering Intravenous Contrast and relevant drugs (eg anti spasmodic) injections to patients requiring the use of additional cannulation techniques in addition to using complex dynamic contrast injection pumps which has patient safety implications.
- Ensure that the code of Practice for Radiation Safety, as drawn up in the Local Rules, is observed at all times, and report any breaches or problems concerning these rules to the Radiation Safety Officer.
- Assess, prioritise and effectively organise workload within areas depending on severity/urgency of request ensuring optimum workflow at all times.
- Work within own scope of practice.
Undertake the role of trauma lead in CT carrying the trauma bleep and responding to trauma calls in a timely fashion co-ordinating any other work to ensure efficient & safe workflow. Maintain effective communication with the trauma team and other colleagues.
