An exciting opportunity has arisen on our busy 25 bedded cardiology ward for a full time ward sister/charge nurse as we are looking to expand our management team
Ward 3a is a 25 bedded medical cardiology ward with capacity to have patient's on cardiac monitoring that are monitored by the acute cardiac unit. It is a busy and challenging ward and nurses patients with a breadth of different cardiology and medical conditions
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, patient-centred and hard-working individual to join our management to provide leadership and expert knowledge to support our team
To assist the ward manager in the general running of the ward and to deputise the ward manager in their absence,therefore training on the governance of the ward will be integrated into your training
Main duties of the job
The ward provides challenges and opportunities that will help you develop your skills and gain further experience.We ensure that you have structured support to be able to achieve your own personal aspirations within the vision of the ward
Cardiology experience is desirable not essential
Promoting and delivering exceptional patient care
Leading the ward day to day
Mentoring and supporting the staff on the ward
Ensuring accurate documentation and risk assessment compliance
Ensuring compliance in mandatory training
Leading the board round with the MDT to deliver holistic care to our patients
Completing audits to patient patient safety and provide assurance
Completing action plans and presentations for incidents that occur
Supporting the ward manager in the managerial duties
We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and organisational skills that can assist the day to day running of the ward
To have a passion in educating other staff and students
To ensure the safety, privacy and dignity of patients at all times
Take responsibility for a group of patients and be their named nurse
Able to complete ECGs for the patients
Able to or willing to expand on your skills and be able to complete venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation and arterial blood gases
Act as a champion for an area of nursing, for example tissue viability, dementia, ANTT, and attend study days to feedback information to the ward staff
