Main duties of the job

The NHS Long Term Plan and Directed Enhanced Service for Primary Care Networks (PCNs) has set the ambition to embed pharmacy professionals as prescribers and medicines experts into GP practices and care homes working across primary care networks (PCNs).

PCN pharmacists have access to a specific PCPEP training pathway delivered over 18 months to support their development. However, the longer-term requirements of this workforce and their developing needs is less understood currently.

The SPS Pharmacy Integration Project has been commissioned to develop and deliver a range of resources, professional development tools and networks to support pharmacy colleagues working in PCNs, care homes and community pharmacy settings across England.

This project aims to support this workforce to deliver evidence-based medicines optimisation to patients.

The post-holder will be responsible for developing and delivering against the project plan.
