Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a full-time Band 8B Principal Applied Psychologist in Adult Community Mental Health (Planned Care) at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT). You would join our community-based psychological therapies service for working age adults within secondary care services; you would work within our Community Mental Health Team in Walsall Northand potentially across the locality according to service need.
We are a combination of Practitioner Psychologists, CBT Therapists and DBT Therapists offering a range of group and individual therapies in line with recovery models of care and trauma-informed practice. There are opportunities to apply and develop your time-limited psychological skills in CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT, CFT, CAT and ISTDP.
Main duties of the job
We see clients with a range of complex mental health problems including CPTSD, personality disorders, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and moderate to severe presentations of depression and anxiety. We fully invest in the support and wellbeing of our staff. Staff have regular appropriate supervision, reflective practice and access to CPD to support professional growth.
We also provide opportunities in leadership, developing others, developing advanced therapeutic skills, and service/organisational development.
As part of Community Transformation, psychological therapies are fully integrated into four Community Mental Health Teams across our four localities (Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Dudley and Walsall). We work within a strong multi-disciplinary ethos, with very good links with staff from Tier 1, our Recovery College and VCSE partners.
The core CMHTs are supported by specialist services which also include psychological therapists: Complex Emotional Needs Service; Eating Disorders; Perinatal Services; 18-25s Transitions Team; Early Intervention in Psychosis; Clinical Health Psychology.
Whilst Operational managers provide our line management, we provide strong professional leadership, clinical supervision and support to all our psychological staff. Psychology is a vital and influential field, represented at every level in our Trust, including our Chief Therapies Officer and also our Chief Clinical Information Officer who are both Consultant Clinical Psychologists.
