Job summary

Wolverhampton Talking Therapies Service for Anxiety and Depression (TTAD) are looking to recruit Apprentice Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to work in a well-established clinical workforce of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and Counsellors.

The clinical components of this role will be fulfilled through working 4 days per week with Wolverhampton TTAD, and the academic training will be with Staffordshire University.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve one day per week attending university and four days a week in service providing client-centred assessments and evidence-based psychological treatments to those with common mental health difficulties.We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals looking to further their career in the mental health sector

To meet eligibility for this role and its training component, you must meet the followingessential criteria:

  • Level 2 English and Maths prior to starting the apprenticeship (evidence will be required).
  • Significant relevant experience in caring for people, particularly those experiencing mental health difficulties which can be through paid, voluntary, or through expertise gained by experience of mental health difficulties.
  • Availability to attend university and office in person.
  • Applicants should demonstrate evidence of good interpersonal skills, and openness to learn new skills and knowledge.

Wolverhampton Talking Therapies offers intervention for Depression and all anxiety disorders. As a service we consistently excel with above average moving to recovery rates, positive client feedback and exceptionally high job satisfaction from our team.

The service offers a number of evidence-based psychological interventions both at step 2 and step 3 as proposed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.

The post holders will work alongside other Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners in providing step 2 evidence-based psychological treatments.

The step 2 service offers a combination of Computerised Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Telephone one-to-one Low Intensity CBT, and face-to-face one-to-one Low Intensity CBT.

This is a developmental post and suitable candidates are provided with intensive training and supervision to work in the role. Successful candidates will study on the Graduate Certificate in Psychological Wellbeing Practice with the Staffordshire University.

4 days per week will be spent in service gaining invaluable clinical experience, assessing and working with people from local communities, and 1 day per week studying with the university. This may be a combination of in person and remote learning.

Applicants will only be offered an apprenticeship post if they meet the eligibility criteria for apprenticeship funding as set out by the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Those without a valid permit to work and study in the UK are not eligible to apply for this position, and applicants need to have been a UK resident for at least three years.

All applicants must have the ability to travel independently as required.
