Job summary

We are currently welcoming a Band 6 deputy ward manager to join our teams on our male acute wards.

Two positions have arisen on Wrekin and Clent ward. A permanent position is for Wrekin ward and Clent ward is recruiting for a secondment position.

Main duties of the job

To support the Ward manager in developing effective ward rotas, managing skill mix issuesand addressing staff shortages where necessary through effective communication with theward team and Bank Nurse service.

To undertake and support team members through processes such as ProfessionalDevelopment planning and Clinical Supervision.? To contribute to the development of junior members of staff and students promoting anenvironment conducive to learning.? Ensure all necessary documentation identified in organizational/local policies and proceduresare completed by self and others as required.? Ensure an open channel of communication/information to the team and other members of themulti disciplinary team including active engagement with care coordinators under CPA inorder to identify appropriate resources to support the patient upon discharge from hospital.

  • Ensures that the clinical environment is conducive to the well-being of patients, visitors and members of staff, and reports all situations that may be detrimental or potentially detrimental to the wellbeing of patients and visitors.

  • Responsible for the safe storage and safe administration of drugs. Exercises responsibility for the custody and maintenance of statutory records of drugs in accordance with the Trust policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for own professional conduct with regard to confidentiality, and professional standards of care and ensures that these are being followed by all grades of staff.
  • To participate in the programme of appraisal for self and others.
