Positive Behaviour Support Clinical Nurse Specialist - Band 6 or Band 5/6 Progression Post
This is a permanent position. Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 9am- 5pm
(Some flexibility maybe required to meet the needs of the service)
We have a vacancy for a Band 6 LD nurse or a Band 5 LD nurse looking to progress to a Band 6 community post. For the progression post you will receive additional supervision and support to meet the B6 competencies and meet the attached job description
We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a caring, compassionate, committed and enthusiastic qualified Learning Disability Nurse to work within the Walsall Behaviour Support Team. You will be welcomed into an established, motivated and progressive team.
The Walsall Behaviour Support Team is part of a specialist community Learning disability multi-disciplinary team, who work within the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) stepped pathway. We provide a highly specialist service to adults with a Learning Disability who present with complex and challenging needs.
Main duties of the job
This role involves completion of a range of tasks (but not limited to) specialist behavioural assessments, analysis of findings, formulation and the development and implementation of individualized ethical interventions following the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) ethos and pathway.
You will be expected to develop positive relationships with individuals referred to the service, their families, colleagues, professionals and others who may be involved in supporting the person.
You will be involved in the delivery of training, the assessment and supervision of student nurses and supporting other learners. There will be opportunities to actively contribute to service developments, future planning and improvement within the Learning Disability services.
You will work in a range of settings, which can include people's homes, specialist schools, provider and occasional inpatient services. You will be required to have a valid driving license and access to and use of a car.
You will be offered the opportunity to complete specialist PBS training.
About us
This is a clinical role, you will hold and manage a complex case load while delivering a high quality, meaningful and safe service in line with PBS, CQC and NICE standards. You will complete a range of tasks including (but not limited to) specialist behavioural assessments, behavioural analysis and formulation, risk assessment and management, the development and implementation of individualised ethical interventions following within the ethos of Positive Behaviour Support.
You will have the opportunity to work in a range of settings, which can include people's homes, specialist schools, third sector providers and day services. You will be required to have a valid driving license and access to and use of a car to travel to planned visits across Walsall and on occasions other locations in the Black Country.
To support you in your role you will receive regular supervision from an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, this will enable you to work autonomously and to hold an allocated and manage a complex case load. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our psychology team and other members of the MDT.

- Engage with and feedback outcomes to a range of stakeholders whilst maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.

- To work within legal parameters, having a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- To work within the guidance of the Trust/local Lone Working policy, using agreed report & confirm systems.
- To actively participate in regular clinical and management supervision with line manager and Therapists.
- To actively participate and complete revalidation as required by the NMC
- Actively participate in own appraisal and ensure objectives and work plans are met.
- To ensure contractual activity and trust targets are completed within set time parameters.
- To comply with all Mandatory and Statutory training requirements.
