An exciting opportunity has been created for an Occupational Therapy Lead (Band 7) to join our friendly Specialist Perinatal mental health community service.

We are looking for an exceptional Occupational Therapy lead who is enthusiastic, highly motivated, experienced and innovative. If you have a history of demonstrating clinical expertise and strong leadership skills, with a passion for developing others this could be the ideal job opportunity for you.

As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work as an autonomous Occupational Therapy clinician, providing specialist assessment, intervention and will hold a clinical caseload. You will provide leadership and supervision to OT's and student OT's across the service. You will also be a part of the perinatal senior leadership team.

The Perinatal service supports women with moderate to severe mental health difficulties during the antenatal and post-natal period. Some previous experience of working with this client group would be an advantage however is not essential. We are looking for someone who has an interest in working holistically with people and who have a keen interest in perinatal mental health and have a motivation to work in this rewarding area.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible to the AHP Lead for the Division and the Perinatal Service Manager. They will have designated operational responsibility for professional leadership and co-ordination of the Occupational Therapy Team within the perinatal service. They will also deliver occupational therapy to perinatal service users, conduct assessments, interventions and hold a caseload.

There will be further opportunities to contribute towards the transition of the Occupational Therapy Role within the team, as part of a wider community transformation environment.

The team presently provide OT interventions, both individual and group based, person centredand Recovery focused.

Supporting the facilitation of student placements, is a key priority of the organisation, which is therefore translated to this role. We are looking at supporting clinicians with flexible ways of doing this such as sharing students and facilitation of tutorials, which as a member of the team you would have the ability to contribute to the ongoing development of this.
