Do you want to work for a newly formed, forward thinking organisation? An exciting opportunity has arisen as part of the ongoing development of the All Age Intensive Support team. We are looking for a band 7 Registered nurse (RNLD/ RMN) to join the newest part of the team specialising in Adult Autism.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated registered nurse who has experience of delivering high quality, person centred services with the aim of achieving positive life outcomes for individuals. In conjunction with a MDT you will deliver a high quality service aimed to provide specialist intervention with a view to providing care within the person's home.

The IST forms part of the wider Black Country offer supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism who are experiencing difficulties which may otherwise lead to placement breakdown or hospital admission. As such the team is reliant upon the interface between services within and outside of Black Country Trust.

This is a challenging but rewarding role and we encourage applications from experienced RMN and RNLD's as we believe having a diverse workforce will lead to better outcomes for our service users. Experienced in working with Autistic people is desirable but not essential to apply, however we do encourage applications from individuals who are flexible, positive and open to exploring alternative approaches.

Main duties of the job

Working intensively with individuals who have a primary diagnosis of Autism who are also experiencing difficulties with their mental health and/or behaviour of such a degree or intensity that placement breakdown or hospital admission is likely to occur without intervention

Work in partnership with other disciplines

Developing and intensively supporting the implementation of a variety of interventions aimed to stabilise a person so that they can remain at home or to reduce the length of hospital stay where this is indicated for safety

Deliver training, workshops, supervision and modelling to those supporting autistic people

Deliver safe, compassionate and meaningful interventions in line with governance standards

You need:

To be a confident and competent practitioner, who can work autonomously.

Be confident and effective in clinically coordinating the assessment and intervention processes of the clinical pathway

Communicate efficiently with key stakeholders

Build and maintain professional relationships with key stake holders

Effectively manage time and be able to prioritise own workload, seeking support where needed from colleagues

Give direction and supervision to others in formal and informal settings

Be passionate about upholding the rights of autistic people, their family's and their cares

Have good IT skills

Supervision of junior staff and holding personal development conversations

Participate in reflective practice and service development

As the post involves working across the 4 Black Country areas having a full driving licence and car is essential to the role. The team operates an 8-8 service so flexible working is necessary between these hours as dictated by the needs of the service and its users. This includes Bank Holidays and weekends.
