Job summary
This exciting new post will appeal to a pharmacist looking for a challenge in developing, leading and providing clinical pharmacy services.
This post is a full time / part time opportunity based on a 5-day (Mon-Fri) working week, with noexpectation to take part in on-call, evenings and weekend rota.
- 2 days/week community mental health services
- 3 days/week perinatal mental health services
This may appeal to a single applicant as a full-time post or would also be considered as a job-share/split role.
This role will support those with complex mental health needs / patients during the perinatal period, working with our perinatal community team.
The perinatal role will support perinatal teams in the safe and effective use of medicines throughout the perinatal period. This role requires someone with good communication skills able to effectively discuss treatment options and risks with services users and their families. Use of medicines within the perinatal period is often complex, this pharmacist needs to be able to effectively use resources to appraise treatment options and make decisions.
The community services role will see you support multidisciplinary community mental health teams, working closely with specialist clinicians and patients to optimise medication and improve treatment outcomes for people with mental health conditions.
Interviews for this post are anticipated to be during w/c 11th December.
Main duties of the job
You will be a member of the trust Senior Pharmacy Team and be expected to take the lead on a number of projects as well as contributing to the development of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.
This is a specialist post and the post holder will already have a post graduate qualification in mental health pharmacy in order to lead and provide a specialist clinical service. The postholder will be qualified or willing to undertake funded training in Independent Prescribing.
The post holder is professionally and managerially responsible for the provision and development of a professional and progressive pharmaceutical service in line with professional and national guidelines.
To be responsible for providing high quality, safe, cost effective, medicines management.
The post-holder may provide a prescribing function as part of their role, where appropriate.
To be responsible for development and implementation of local audits, policy and procedures to ensure medicines management operates safely, effectively and efficiently.
To provide professional advice and pharmaceutical support to the clinical teams and partner services. To support the development of quality initiatives that address identified prescribing and medicines management issues, including those that cross interfaces.
To have direct management responsibility for staff.
