We are looking for a dynamic and capable Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our established community learning disability team.
Occupational Therapy is a core role in our teams working alongside other disciplines. You should be confident in supporting our registered OT when delivering recovery focused interventions across all occupational domains with both individuals and groups.
Main duties of the job
OT has a core role that requires dedication from the whole team to deliver shared pathways to service users which helps them to become more independent and live in the least restrictive environment.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner will support the OT team leader to manage, assess, plan and implement interventions for a caseload of complex service users with a diagnosed learning disability, addressing occupational performance and skills deficits to meet service user's needs. The community core offer is wide and offers variety to the role, including assessments and treatment formulation is: Sensory Integration, Falls, equipment provision to enhance ADL, promoting independence in skills, postural care and seating for function, supporting good mental wellbeing and promoting good routines and occupational balance.

We offer the opportunity to develop skills utilising training and work shadowing and offer extensive support, utilising reflective practice groups, peer and individual supervision.

We are guided by the recovery model, the Occupational Therapy Team will also maintain close liaison with the range of existing and new specialist mental health community teams, and social care agencies across the Black Country in order to ensure that people with a learning disability are well supported by the full range of services and opportunities that meet their whole life person centred needs and aspirations.
