Job summary

A great opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and a highly motivated candidate to join our Digital Services Team.

The Trust has received significant national investment to enable frontline digitisation and digital innovation across the Trust. Over the coming years we will be deploying many new systems and technologies via a number of major projects, alongside maintaining an excellent level of Business as Usual (BAU) support to our users.

This is an exciting time to join us as the role will provide opportunities to extend your existing skillset but also to learn new skills and to grow and develop further. Furthermore, to local cross training, skills and knowledge sharing, we provide direct access to training academies and online training resources, where you can be further qualified.

The Digital Services Infrastructure Engineer role is a 3rd Line "hands on" Engineer role. The successful candidate will be part of a team which is responsible for managing and maintaining the network, firewalls and server infrastructure, data and voice services and for providing third line technical support and consultation to our users. In addition, the team are heavily involved in cyber security and cloud services.

We rely on the team to lead on technical development projects and also to provide Subject Matter Expertise for BAU work.

The IT team are currently based at Edward Steet Hospital in West Bromwich. The new base, date tbc, will be in Peartree Lane, Dudley (DY2 OUW). We operate a hybrid agile working model, which is managed locally in conjunction with the line manager to ensure we have enough staff on site across our working hours.

The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the out of hours on call rota when required.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibility of the postholder is to:

  • To communicate effectively with users, technical staff and project teams alike, across all ability levels to interpret customer requests into practical, secure and resilient solutions.
  • To work in a 3rd Line Engineer capacity for Business As Usual (BAU) tasks related to existing infrastructure and
  • To work on infrastructure projects in order to develop and improve the current systems, platforms and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise, to other members of the Digital Services team, to enable them to provide end user support for the organisation.
