Job summary
To participate in the provision of an Estates service primarily undertaking mechanical duties associated with repair, planned maintenance, installation and minor improvements of all hot/cold water and hvac systems. Ensuring full ACOP L8, HSG 274, HTM 03 & 04 compliance trust wide. It will be anticipated that some minor electrical duties will be undertaken as training and experience is gained. Participation in the Trust's Estates tradesman on-call Rota is also required covering multiple sites. A valid UK driving is essential.
Main duties of the job
1. Carry out Mechanical planned preventative maintenance work in accordance with Estates schedules and accepted good working practices in order to ensure safe and reliable engineering services.2. Where necessary, carry out fault diagnosis and repairs to the hospitalsmechanical installations and plant, including ventilation, heating, airconditioning, water systems so as to maintain a safe and reliable service.3. Overhaul, service, renovate, repair or replace worn, failed or damagedmechanical plant and installation/system components and equipment asrequired under to direction of the estates and compliance officers4. To carry out any necessary mechanical engineering tests or measurements, in compliance with accepted standards, good industry practice and the Estates Department schedule of inspection. Updating and compiling asset registers and maintenance record logs.5. Become familiar with and when adequately trained carry out basic electrical control operations and calibrations associated with all types of plant.

- Basic education to GCSE/'O' Level in Maths and English or post secondary Education in a relevant field
- City & Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate in Plumbing & Heating/Mechanical discipline
- An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating/Mechanical discipline
Desirable
- BTEC in Building Services Engineering
- IPAF, PASMA, Abrasive wheels, etc
- Vented & Unvented hot water storage
Experience
Essential
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship or structured training program in the relevant post bias for a minimum of 3 years
- At least 5 years post training, site experience having demonstrated high versatility and flexibility. Time served craftsman
- Experience of and ability to demonstrate sufficent knowledge and experience of Water Safety engineering maintenace/repair (ACOP L8/HSG 274 Legionella compliance) and HVAC systems & equipment.
Desirable
- Previous experience of working in an Hospital, Healthcare or Public Sector environment.
- Using a CAFM systems to receive and update work order
- Computer literate and able to use all forms of Microsoft applications and handheld devices
