This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified mental health practitioner or allied health professional to support the clinical and managerial leadership in the Mental Health Liaison Service.
The Mental Health Liaison Service is a 7-day service, which operates a 24-hour shift pattern supporting mental health presentations within the Acute Hospital (Walsall Manor). The service has had significant investment and the service is developing in line with the CORE 24 standards and is developing towards an ageless service working with adults aged 17 upwards.
You will require an understanding of the mental health needs of individuals who present to the Acute Hospital, an experience in assessment/review of mental health needs, risk formulation and an understanding of the Connecting with People Safe Tool which is used in the service. This is essential when supporting staff with risk assessments and safety plans.
You will be familiar with the electronic recording systems within the BCHFT ie RIO.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to provide clear visible operational and clinical leadership, uphold and monitor the clinical standards of the service, provide managerial supervision to the team and to support the service manager with the Core 24 delivery of the service.
Applicants should have extensive experience of working at Band 6 or above.
You will have effective communication skills and be able to represent the service in meetings, writing reports, responding to complaints and interface with colleagues from a range of multi- agency backgrounds.
Therefore we are looking for someone who has a passion to make a difference, be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills, as they are essential in supporting the operational management of the team in conjunction with the service manager.
It would be an advantage if the successful applicant was a car driver as you may be required to support MHLS across the 4 localities in the absence of the team/clinical lead, however due to the current covid 19 pandemic most meetings are undertaken within the Acute Hospital or via Microsoft Teams
